Thursday 17th April: Easter Weekend Events Special

Whether you're about to enjoy a long weekend or four days of hospo hell, promise us you'll have chocolate for breakfast on Sunday. Here's an events special to keep you well fed and entertained for the next few days.

PSA: no public holiday surcharge at The Cross all weekend.

Where to Go on Thursday

Il Mercato Centrale is getting into the Easter spirit with egg-decorating workshops this week, hosted by one of their very own Italian chefs. Grab your friends and have a glass of wine whilst decorating your very own chocolate egg—and don't worry, no kids allowed at the 6 pm evening session. You will have to wear a big chef's hat—but that's all part of the fun.

Where to Go on Friday

Brewmanity are hosting a big Easter extravaganza all weekend, with drinks deals on the rooftop. The thing that has sold us is the adult Easter Egg Hunt happening every single day—a hilarious activity to do after a few Aperols. Each egg contains some mystery prizes, so surely there will be some free drinks up for grabs. They're putting on a happy hour on Friday, a DJ on Saturday, and tasting paddles and sangria on Sunday.

Where to Go on Saturday

About as Aussie as it gets, there's a big surfing comp going down at Bells Beach. Hosted by Rip Curl, it sees some of the world’s best surfers flock to the waves to show off their best moves. We know exactly what your ego will be thinking—it can’t be that hard, can it? The event’s running for the next 10 days, so find a mate with a car and make a day of it.

Where to Go on Sunday

The trusty Queen Vic Market is one of the few places open on Easter Sunday, and where better to spend your day? It might be geared towards family-friendly fun, and there might be a lot of screaming kids, but that doesn't stop it being a great place to pick up a some Easter treats. There’s a hot cross bun trail, plenty of traders selling the traditional Easter lamb, artisanal chocolate, and some poor guy wandering around in a big, sweaty Easter bunny outfit.

Where to Go on Monday

Bank Holiday Mondays are well spent in the pub and if you're looking for an Aussie take, find somewhere that's showing the AFL. The Geelong vs Hawthorn game is set to be a spicy one with tickets to see the action live at the MCG pretty much sold out (there are a few standing ones floating if you're quick). Here's a handy list of the best sports bars in the city—settle in and forget about being back at work tomorrow.

Hope you all enjoy your Easter long weekend, we'll be back in your inbox at 9 am on Tuesday.
