Tuesday 18th March: Coastal Views, Bronzing Drops & a Carb-Lover's Paradise
Time Out has released a list of 100 things to do in Melbourne at least once in your life—naturally, some obvious ones, but also some hidden gems in amongst the list. We're sitting at around 30/100, which technically makes us under-qualified to be writing this—but we're working on it. Here is the latest from Melbourne today, we're aiming to be at 31/100 by the end of the day.
The Headlines
Little Sparrow in the CBD have a very tasty offer on this week. Açaí bowls usually break the bank, but for one week only, they are doing buy one get one free. The perfect post-morning workout snack, drag a friend down to bag yourself this bargain. Admittedly not quite Yo-Chi, but you can't go too far wrong on build-your-own bowls.
We know you guys love a hike recommendation or two, so you’re in luck—three of Australia’s top five trending walks for 2025 are right here in Victoria. The Razorback Trail to Mount Feathertop, Flinders Peak at the You Yangs, and the Cape Woolamai Circuit on Phillip Island have all made the cut, offering everything from dramatic alpine ridges to scenic coastal views. Whether you’re after a proper leg-burner or just an excuse to get some fresh air before hitting the pub, these trails are well worth adding to your list.
The humble hot cross bun, an Easter staple enjoyed across the world, and Melbourne is no exception. Some of you might have started early, taking advantage of them lining the Woolies shelves but if you're yet to enjoy a freshly baked one with a cuppa, here's a list of the very best on offer. The Urban List has rounded up the top spots, from the classic spiced buns at Baker Bleu to Tivoli Road Bakery’s cult-favourite sourdough version.
Where to Eat and Drink
Every Tuesday, trade bottomless tipple for bottomless fries at St Kilda’s beloved Village Belle. Steak night is in full sizzle, and for just $29, you can sink your teeth into a juicy, good quality steak, your choice of chimichurri or Café de Paris butter, and best of all: an endless supply of crispy fries. It’s a carb-lover’s paradise. Swing by between 5-7pm for happy hour too because nothing washes down unlimited fries like an $8 schooner.
Where to Live
This townhouse in the centre of Fitzroy has a room available now, shared with two sociable housemates. Whilst the lounge and kitchen are very tastefully decorated, flooded with natural light, and full of homey touches, the bedroom currently looks like somewhere you'd be held against your will and is in dire need of a bit of TLC. The rent is $1,160 per month—not too bad for the unreal location.
Core selling point: Balcony view to rival Naked for Satan (almost).
Where to Work
Brightscope Human Resources is looking for an Appointment Setter—which to you and I, is a cold caller. This role does sound mildly unpleasant, with a 'high volume' of cold calls required, but the perks just can't be ignored. When you're working fully remote four days a week from 9 am-2 pm for $35 per hour plus commission, you'll be living such a good lifestyle that a bit of cold calling really doesn't seem too bad.
Where to Go
One for the overpriced beauty product lovers, Drunk Elephant is taking over the Mecca pop-up space in Melbourne Central until April 6th. The founder herself will be making an appearance today if you have any burning skin questions you need answering. In true Melbourne Gen-Z marketing style, free matcha is on offer as you mooch to convince you that those $64 bronzing drops are worth every cent.
