Tuesday 25th March: Outdoor Loos, Wine Tasting & Pressure Washing Spiders
One of the many myths we believed before moving here was that it took months for any online shopping to arrive. But, in another line of defence for our spending habits, The Iconic just slashed its delivery time to 1-2 days—dreadful news for the wallet. Have a read about what's going on across the city today while you fill your online trolley.
The Headlines
As part of the Food & Wine festival happening now, the Italian chefs behind Super Norma in Carlton are serving up 1,000 free portions of their pasta alla Norma at Whitehart bar today—and today only. Any CBD office workers, you can leave your sad, cling-film-wrapped sandwich at home. The promo is on from 11 am to 2 pm, so claim your free portion while stocks last—they're even handing out free jars of passata.
Everybody either wants to be Dua Lipa, date her or be her best friend. We can't help you with most of that but thanks to Broadsheet, we can tell you all the places she ate, drank and partied during her recent stint in Melbourne to get you that little closer. She is unsurprisingly a Northside girl, loving Abbotsford's Cam's Kiosk, Fitzroy's Carnation Canteen and even a visit to The Crown. Like any good Melbourne tourist, she couldn't refuse a tuna melt from Hector’s Deli, maybe she is just like us after all.
A niche list but one that's warranted nonetheless, here's a round-up of the top five smoothies on offer across the city. Green Cup obviously tops the list, with its popular Hailey Bieber Skin Glaze purchased exclusively by people born to live in Bondi forced to live in South Yarra. Bitterjoy's Blue Cloud is another standout option for when you want to pay over the odds to make yourself feel like you have your life together.
Where to Eat and Drink
Mukka is a top-tier modern Indian restaurant with locations in Fitzroy and St Kilda, and on Tuesdays, they spoil us with their Curry Madness deal. You’ll get your choice of curry, basmati rice, naan or tandoori roti, a poppadom, and a can of Coke—all for a spicy $25. Considering a curry alone usually goes for at least $24, this deal is a tasty one. Mukka has been dishing up top-quality, authentic Indian curries and street food since 2016, and of course fan-favourite Butter Chicken is top of the menu.
Where to Live
This house would simply never be seen dead south of the river. The tilting spice rack, decorated fireplace and artwork selection would pass away if they were forced into a skyrise flat and look truly at home in Fitzroy. And that's before we discuss the outdoor toilet. One of the housemates is a keen drummer but promises not to practise in the house while another may ask you for help carrying buckets of water out to the garden—nothing quite like sharehouse chores.
Core selling point: solid selection of oils.

Where to Work
For those that aren't a fan of workplace small talk and don't like being sat behind a desk, here’s a job for you. In a Minnit is looking for a Pressure Washing Cleaner to blast away dirt on a site in West Melbourne. There are guaranteed Monday-Friday hours to spend your days with your AirPods firmly in your ears, doing the very satisfying job of using a massive water gun to shoot spiders and grime off the ground. Admittedly, it could get boring pretty quickly, but at least you'd be out and about.
Where to Go
There's nothing more impressive than knowing your way around a wine list, and you can start your connoisseur journey at this wine tasting event. Brunswick wine bar ReWine host a weekly guided wine tasting every Tuesday, where you can sample their selection for $20 and ask all the questions you like. For an extra $15, they offer a cheese pairing with each wine to make a night of it—now there's a Hinge date idea if ever we heard one.
