Tuesday 4th February: Free Concert, Fiji Flights & a Fun Spritz
Anyone out there with broken air conditioning at the moment, our hearts go out to you. Melbourne has officially been declared to be facing an 'extreme heatwave', so stay cool. Here is the latest for your Tuesday in Melbourne, whilst in the shade, of course.
The Headlines
You guys were very keen on the Warehouse Project news a few weeks ago, and while we speculated about the lineup, that’s all it was—pure speculation. Well, the wait is over, and we can finally bring you the official reveal. Bad news for all the basic readers out there (ourselves included): Fred Again is nowhere to be seen. Instead, Partiboi69, Hector Oaks, X-Coast, Miss Bashful, and Carla Martinez will be taking over PICA on April 25th. If that's (techno) music to your ears, tickets come out tomorrow at 11 am sharp.
This week’s flight sale is from a much more upmarket airline, and is offering discounted flights to some of the most-wanted destinations in the Southern Hemisphere. Virgin Australia's sale is on until Friday, and you can bag flights to Bali, Queenstown, Fiji, Samoa, and most Aussie hotspots. Our top pick has to be Melbourne to Fiji return, coming in at $599—which is a bargain considering the normally extortionate flight prices to the tropical paradise. Plus, it's much more luxurious than Jetstar.
Today's niche food collab comes straight from the kitchen of Green Cup and the stockroom of Mecca. All February long, order the Mango Summer Smoothie in any Green Cup store and bag yourself a free Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask. The drink's packed with coconut water, collagen, and loads of other goodness, and it's cheaper than a pilates class—girl math.
Where to Eat and Drink
Oh Baby, we are loving Baby Pizzeria in Richmond this summer. It’s a neighbourhood favourite and the perfect spot to soak up some sun with its alfresco dining area. Serving quality Italian dishes made with fresh, seasonal produce, Baby also has a relaxed, classic Aussie vibe. This summer is the 'summer of spritzes'—book between 4-6pm on weekdays and sip your way through their fun spritz range, all just $9.50 each. Try the limoncello basil spritz, and you won’t be disappointed.
Where to Live
If you're being organised and looking for somewhere to live over the dreaded Melbourne winter, living in this apartment could certainly soften the blow. The full two-bed, two-bath apartment is available for four months from April/May to August, and it's some prime Melbourne real estate. Located in a building on St Kilda Road, equipped with pools, gym, cinema, and dining rooms to name just a few perks. Ideal to lock yourself away until the sun comes back out later in the year.
Core selling point: On-site karaoke room.
Where to Work
Today's job is at fancy French restaurant Maison Bâtard—and well done if you recognise that from yesterday as the venue for Drake's secret model-laden party over the weekend. Just a couple of weeks earlier and you could've been serving him his Clase Azul tequila. They're on the hunt for classic hospo casuals, but with that high-end twist. Three plate carry is of course a must for a venue of this calibre—better get practising.
Where to Go
Fed Square has already come through with some of the standout events of the summer—Robbie, we're looking at you—and there's another free gig this evening. It's set to a more wholesome vibe this time, swapping Let Me Entertain You for some gospel by candlelight. Ethiopian songstress Soli takes the stage at 8:30 pm, bringing a soulful mix of R&B and gospel-inspired covers and incase we forgot to mention, it won't cost you a cent—no excuses.
