Wednesday 16th April: Lady Gaga, Espresso Sessions & Date Night
Katy Perry went to space yesterday (naturally) for a grand total of 11 minutes. There was plenty of online chatter about it, including this fun list of everything in Melbourne that would take you longer than it did for Perry to go ET. We're talking the Lune Croissanterie queue, finding the Chadstone exit, and deciding where to eat on Lygon Street. Read on for what else is going on today—firmly on the ground.
The Headlines
Lady Gaga is making her big return to Australia after a long 11-year wait, and tickets are coming out tomorrow. The Mayhem Ball tour will be coming to Melbourne's Marvel Stadium in December. Pre-sale for Live Nation members will be coming out today, and general sale launches at 12pm tomorrow—get those alarms on, it's set to be a popular one. Tickets start at $120 for seated and $212 for standing—which is the only place to be at a Gaga concert.
If you're yet to have your Easter carb fix, you can bag a free hot cross bun at 105 Sydney Road, Brunswick, or 187 Gertrude Street, Fitzroy. The activation is by a real estate company—not the most natural link, but we won't argue with an offer of free food. Unconfirmed whether you can get one of the classics or one of the 2025 takes that seem to be taking over the shops (we're looking at you, rhubarb & custard).
If those Saturday late nights are taking a toll, we raise you OnAir's Saturday Espresso Sessions. This new café in Cremorne is doing things a bit differently—they've created a music lovers sanctuary, where patrons can sip on a coffee instead of a beer whilst listening to some of Melbourne’s coolest DJs. Their Saturday sessions are already gaining popularity—you can check out the last one on YouTube here.
Where to Eat and Drink
Blink and you'll miss it—Little Rogue is a hidden gem nestled in a CBD laneway behind its iconic bright blue door. This unassuming little café might not look like much from the outside, but it serves up some of the best brews in town. Famous around Melbourne for its specialty coffee and matcha lattes, it’s had loyal fans raving about its matcha powder for over a decade. You can finally get your hands on it (and their coffee beans) through their website—but nobody makes it like they do in-house.
Where to Live
On first glance, it looked like the single bed/sofa setup in the lounge was actually the master bedroom in this CBD flat—but thankfully, for almost $3000 a month, you're treated to a double bed too. The ideal candidate has kept a houseplant (or five) alive in the past, as there's a lot of greenery taking up valuable space. Smoking's allowed on the balcony if you're not yet off the IGET bars like you’ve been saying you would for months.
Core selling point: you'll never be short of somewhere to sit.

Where to Work
Huge news for Northsiders: Salvos needs more staff to keep their op shops running. Getting a job in a charity shop surely means first dibs on incoming stock—true dedication to the Melbourne wardrobe. Roles are casual and flexible, and you don’t need any retail experience, just a willingness to get stuck in. If you’re between jobs, looking for a few extra dollars, or just want a new source of funky mugs and Levi’s 501s, this could be your time.
Where to Go
Marameo is a super cool, Italian dinner party-inspired restaurant in the CBD, and they've just launched an absolute bargain of a date night deal. It's $50 for a three-course meal for two—and you even get half a litre of wine included. The menu include focaccia and cured meats to start, a pasta dish and salad for main, and Italian donuts for dessert. Marameo is taking reservations for two, four, or six—if a mate date night is more your scene.
