Wednesday 5th March: Whipped Feta, Chilled Cavoodle & Another New Bakery
We've all been there—standing on a windswept street, wondering if that tram is actually coming or if you'll just end up having to Uber. TramTracker is an app to save the day that actually provides live tracking for those unreliable trams, an invaluable Melbourne hack. Here is the latest for today in Melbourne, and may your commute be smoother than a flat white.
The Headlines
You might think the last thing Melbourne needs is yet another trendy gentrified bakery, but this new opening could just be a new go-to. From the founders of the legendary Maker Coffee, Baker of Things has just opened its doors in Richmond, and they're taking the suburb by storm already. Their selection of baked goods sounds absolutely mouth-watering, along with their baked-in-house mini loaves, and of course Maker Coffee.
Every restaurant in Melbourne seems to add steak to their menu on a Wednesday, so it's only right we bring you a list of the very best. Whether you’re after a perfectly cooked wagyu, a cheap eat, or something a little fancy with all the sides—there’s something to tickle every tastebud. Top picks include Entrecôte, Angus & Bon, and Neighbourhood Wine, but feast your eyes on the list and decide for yourself.
A day full of round-ups, take a look here at the best multi-brand fashion boutiques in Melbourne. Trawling the shops of the CBD can be draining, so visiting a boutique stocking curated pieces from a variety of brands is a much more pleasant (yet often expensive) experience. A far cry from Cotton On, these shops are where to go if you're looking for your statement festival pieces, or if you're simply looking to fit in in Fitzroy.
Where to Eat and Drink
Huge claim, but we're giving the award for best avo toast we’ve ever had to Top Paddock in Richmond. It’s got all the components of a 10/10 breakfast: crunchy yet soft sourdough, perfectly ripe avo, creamy whipped feta, and the perfect selection of extras (peas and asparagus, in this case). Tucked away just over the river, you might miss it if you're marching with purpose, but it's a lovely haven among the trees, ready and waiting with fresh pastries and delicious coffee to start your day right.
Where to Live
These Richmond housemates keep it low-key during the week but promise to bring the fun on weekends. The master bedroom is up for grabs—ideal for a couple or someone who just likes plenty of space and has some spare cash. We absolutely hate the colour of those balcony chairs, but we bet it's a great place for an after-work wine or five.
Core selling point: an adorable and extremely chilled cavoodle to take on beach walks.

Where to Work
If you’ve ever walked into the stunning four walls of a Nude Lucy store and wished you could take home every single item, this might be your moment. The Chapel Street store is hiring a sales assistant, and it comes with a whopping 40% staff discount. Get your application in and send your Cotton On garms to an op shop—linen waistcoats and satin maxis are your uniform now.
Where to Go
Today marks the kickoff of the largest celebration of French cinema outside of France, the French Film Festival in Melbourne. This annual très chic event sees a selection of the finest French films on show at cinemas across the city, take a look at the full programme to see if anything tickles your fancy. It's a very cultured way to spend your evening, despite the fact you'd have to read subtitles for hours on end.
