Tuesday March 4th: Pancakes, F1 Merch & Fashion Festival Looks
Yesterday's naked bike ride pictures attracted a lot of attention, and it was of course the most-clicked link of the day, you dirty dogs. Nothing gets clicks like nudity, we'll take notes. Here’s what is going on in Melbourne today, a fully clothed edition, unfortunately.
The Headlines
Any big F1 fans out there, listen up. With the Melbourne Grand Prix just around the corner, Oscar Piastri is drumming up excitement in his hometown of Melbourne by handing out some free merch. Yesterday the team hit Hugo's Deli and were handing out signed McLaren merch to passersby, and today they'll be at another mystery location for some more giveaways. The location will be revealed on @mastercardau's Instagram stories, so keep an eye out. Not making any promises, but the big man could even be there himself.
Yeah, it was the Oscars and the Brits last week, but the looks weren't a patch on the Melbourne Fashion Festival. As part of the festival's Independent Programme, some local designers put on a show, and here are some of the best looks from the attendees. With some looking very cool and very Fitzroy, and others looking like they raided an op shop and did a $20 challenge, we'll let you be the judge of the fits.
Happy Pancake Day to all the sweet-toothed out there. Whether you like them stacked, drowning in syrup, or loaded with strawbs, Melbourne’s got options. Here’s a list of some of the best spots to get your fix—so if your Shrove Tuesday plans involve more eating than flipping, let someone else do the work. If this is how you’re finding out it’s the big day, good luck fighting over the eggs in Coles.
Where to Eat and Drink
If pancakes weren’t enough, for your next sweet treat, head to Stix in Craigieburn, which claims to be home to Australia’s first cheesecake on a stick. Indulge in mouthwatering flavours like Oreo, Snickers, and Kinder Bueno, all famously easy to enjoy on the go. They also serve up plenty of other treats including the Dubai chocolate all the kids are banging on about right now.
Where to Live
We'll never get sick of those Melbourne skyline views, and today's house pick has a great one to add to the mix. Conveniently located right next to South Yarra station, a quick train can take you from admiring the city from afar to being right in the middle of the CBD chaos. Your future housemate has fallen for the Big Four, so chances are you'll feel like you live alone most of the time while they sell their soul to the corporate world.
Core selling point: morning hot air balloon views are pretty special.

Where to Work
While this role does sound slightly like a pyramid scheme that's too good to be true, it does offer an immediate start and some decent perks. Bua Group is hiring for casual Sales Associates, which sounds like a door-to-door sales position in disguise. All jokes aside, it could be a decent place to get a bit of cash in the bank with a rate of up to $37 plus bonuses and commission. Priding themselves on being a fun and young office, you'd never be short of mates and we are sure the after-work drinks would be flowing.
Where to Go
Brunswick Music Festival has officially kicked off and has another week to run. Just about any genre you could imagine is set to feature across a range of different venues in the suburb. You could spend hours digesting the packed schedule but if you're just there for the vibe, pick any of the free shows and we're sure your ears will be blessed. Expect the usual Brunswick vibe—local, laid-back, and full of good beer.
